Withdrawal and Retraction

WITHDRAWAL AND RETRACTION POLICY

SBAMER follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on corrections, retractions, and withdrawals to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

1. Withdrawal of a Manuscript by the Author

  • Authors may withdraw a manuscript before it enters the review process by sending a written request to the editor.
  • Withdrawal during review or after acceptance is allowed only for strong reasons (e.g., a serious error found by the authors). The request must be signed by all authors and include the reason.
  • Authors may not submit the same manuscript to another journal until the editor has confirmed the withdrawal.

2. Correction (Erratum/Corrigendum)

If a published article contains an error that does not affect its main findings, a correction notice will be published and linked to the original article.

3. Retraction

A published article may be retracted when there is clear evidence of:

  • fabrication or falsification of data, or unreliable findings due to major errors;
  • plagiarism, duplicate publication, or redundant publication;
  • unethical research, including research without required consent or ethics approval;
  • undisclosed conflicts of interest that affect the interpretation of the work;
  • authorship disputes or manipulation of peer review.

A retraction notice titled “Retraction: [article title]” will be published in the next issue and linked to the article. The original article remains online, but is clearly watermarked as “Retracted”, so that the scholarly record is preserved.

4. Expression of Concern

While an investigation is in progress, the editor may publish an Expression of Concern about the article.

APC that has already been paid is not refunded for articles retracted because of misconduct.
