GUIDELINES FOR REVIEWERS

Thank you for supporting SBAMER as a reviewer. SBAMER uses a double-blind peer review: the identities of authors and reviewers are not disclosed to each other. The following guidelines help reviewers provide fair, constructive, and timely reviews.

Before Accepting a Review

  • Make sure the manuscript matches your expertise.
  • Check that you can complete the review within the time given (usually 2–3 weeks).
  • Decline if you have a conflict of interest (see Conflict of Interest).

What to Evaluate

  1. Relevance – fit with the focus and scope of SBAMER (small business accounting, management, and entrepreneurship).
  2. Originality – novelty and contribution to knowledge or practice.
  3. Literature review – relevant, up-to-date references and a clear research gap.
  4. Methods – appropriate design, data, and analysis that can be replicated.
  5. Results and discussion – findings supported by data and linked to previous studies.
  6. Conclusion – answers the research questions and states implications and limitations.
  7. Presentation – clear language, title, abstract, tables, figures, and correct APA references.

Writing the Review

  • Give specific and constructive comments that help the authors improve the manuscript.
  • Be objective and polite; personal criticism is not acceptable.
  • Treat the manuscript as confidential and do not share it or use it for your own work.
  • Inform the editor if you suspect plagiarism, data fabrication, or other misconduct.
  • Do not upload the manuscript to AI tools or other online services.
